6 Insider Tips for Living at Enclave, An Off-Campus Housing Complex Near SUNY Brockport
Moving into a new place can feel exciting, nerve-wracking, and everything in between. To help you get settled in, we asked some of our current Enclave residents to share their favorite tips and advice for incoming students. Here’s what they had to say:

1. Speak Up and Settle In Early
“Don’t be afraid to speak up if you have any issues, especially with roommates. Be patient and communicate. The staff here are super helpful (shoutout to Becky!). I also wish I knew sooner how many great walking spots are nearby. And shuttle tip: save the shuttle schedule to your phone. It’ll save you from being late. Most of all, don’t be shy. People here are kind and always willing to help.”
— Hlina Getachew, SUNY Brockport student
If you’re transitioning from on-campus to off-campus housing, open communication and getting familiar with the area early on will make your life way easier.
2. Safety + Community = Peace of Mind
“I’ve never felt so safe living somewhere. Packages are handled securely, the outside door locks after hours, and the office is open during the day. I love the yoga room — mats and iPad included! Plus, the people are so friendly. It honestly feels like home.”
— Nesrine Ramadan, SUNY Brockport student
Choosing off-campus housing that offers security, helpful staff, and wellness-focused amenities makes a big difference — especially when you’re juggling a busy class schedule.
3. Make Enclave Your Home! Not Just a Pit Stop
“Enclave has become a place I’m actually sad to leave at the end of the semester. Want a movie night but can’t afford the theater? Use the private movie room! Need a workout at 2 AM? You’ve got that too. I may or may not wander the halls in pajamas to play pool. The point is, don’t be afraid to make yourself comfortable. This is your space now.”
— Allison Mileham, SUNY Brockport student
The best off-campus living near SUNY Brockport isn’t just about location but also it’s about living in a place where you feel comfortable being yourself.
4. Don’t Miss the Shuttle… Seriously
“RUN to the shuttle even if you’re 5 minutes early!!!!”
— Olivia Ruiz, SUNY Brockport student
Use the SUNY Brockport shuttle system to your advantage. It’s a game-changer for getting to and from class, especially during winter. But be wise with timing, always be early or you might miss it. 5. Use the Amenities! That’s What They're There For
“Don’t underestimate the pool and ping pong tables. I met one of my best friends there! The fitness rooms and quiet study spaces are perfect when campus is too crowded. I used the shuttle all winter instead of driving. Also, don’t hesitate to talk to the office, they’re awesome. The more you step out of your comfort zone, the more fun you’ll have.”
— Josh Heim, SUNY Brockport student
SUNY Brockport’s library and gym does get busy. At Enclave, you’ve got study rooms and three fitness spaces right in your building.
6. Explore Campus Life Even While Living Off-Campus
“If you’re new to Brockport, go to campus events and join clubs. It may feel nerve-racking at first, but it gets easier and helps you meet new people.”
— Chris Moroz, SUNY Brockport student
